すみません、日本でこのガジェットを使う人はほとんどいないと思いますので、今回レビューをへたな英語で書いています。
Because there will be few users who is going to review Pal strap, I am going to challenge to write it. This is not something like in depth review by DC Rainmaker, but I hope still you can enjoy. Also, please understand English is not my mother language,
Firstly, I better explain what is Pal Strap. Pal Strap is a GPS & Extended Battery Strap For Pebble. It gives GPS functions to Pebble Time (and Pebble Time Steel) and also gives a week extension of battery life.
Then, I also need to explain what is "pebble". Please refer to Wikipedia for details, but basically Pebble is a e-paper based smart watch and already finished production and no official support available after it's producing company Pebble announced to be purchased by FitBit.
Pal Strap started it's development by asking investment via KickStarter, but after several months, this news, Pebble aquired by Fitbit, came. It is miraculous to have the finished product in this circumstance. Thanks to the Pal strap developers, it should be tough for them to produce an add-on item to which main Pebble is already stop producing.They must have lost money by producing Pal strap.
Ok, then moving into the review part.
As in the picture, packaging is minimum. Just a small box and inside there is just a product. But this is ok, all the neccesary instruction is already available in their Website and YouTube. I like this approach.
In spite of the tough situation, the product is neatly built. From outlook, it looks worth to pay for 65 USD. Attaching to Pebble is very easy. Just making sure to tight lock button.
From the watch surface side, it look not so much different from the original Pebble time belt, battery and GPS are located at buckle side, so this part becomes ticker. I think this is smart solution moving tick part at the back, and keeps the front watch part as simple as possible. Downside for this is when typing at the PC, every time the band hits the desk.
Moving onto the application installation. There are two parts of the installation required. One for Pebble and the other for smartphone. It is also required to install firmware update at Pebble side. These are easy enough and nothing differs from the normal software installation.
Now Pal strap + Pebble time is ready! it is simple, no complaint up to here. In the next article, i will describe it's application and GPS capture part, and in here there are lot to mention.
